Legendary items drop from a number of sources in Legion, although as a general rule of thumb the tougher the difficulty you overcome to achieve the drop, the greater the chance you'll have of getting a Legendary reward from it.

Here all of the confirmed sources for Legendaries There are no hard and fast drop rates for any of the Legendary items in Legion.

Instead - and just like the system in Diablo - there is a sort of "bad luck" timer ticking away in the background.

This means that the longer you go in the game without seeing a Legendary item, the more likely you are to have one drop in the future. For this reason, it's incredibly important that you make sure you shift back to your main spec if you've been dabbling in a little off-spec fun.

Otherwise you run the risk of bagging Legendary items for a spec you don't want to focus on - and you can't trade these items with other players either, or sell them on the Auction house.

Note that there are some items that are universally useful for all specs within a given class, but there are no Legendary Off-Hand, Shield, Trinket or Weapon items.
